As a long-time movie enthusiast and resident of Tamil Nadu, I find myself both excited and slightly dismayed by the upcoming release of Kanguva, starring Suriya and Bobby Deol. On one hand, I am thrilled to finally see this highly anticipated film on the big screen. However, on the other hand, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment when I compare the early morning show timings in Tamil Nadu to those in other states.
Tomorrow, November 14th, Kanguva – featuring Suriya and Bobby Deol – will be premiering in cinemas. The filmmakers have shared that they’ve been granted permission by the Tamil Nadu government to screen the earliest show at 9 AM. This news has sparked some frustration among online users as other regions have been given approval for shows starting at 4 AM instead.
Since Kanguva is a film in the Tamil language, movie enthusiasts were hoping for early morning screenings in the state. A social media user expressed, “It would be better to request 7 AM shows rather than nighttime,” while another wrote, “9 am? Really, buddy.” Another comment stated, “Even Kanguva won’t have 5 AM shows in TN.
Online users are overwhelmingly requesting the producers to organize early-morning screenings of the movie in Tamil Nadu, by filling up the comment sections.

Based on an Indian Express report, the government made an exception to its standard rule of not starting shows before 11 am, allowing 9 AM screenings for the Suriya starrer. Additionally, the officials permitted the final or fifth show of the movie to end by 2 AM. Theaters screening Kanguva were advised to implement proper safety and security measures for their audiences.
In addition, the movie is set to be shown earlier in states such as Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala. Some screenings will start as early as 4 AM.
Ever since that unfortunate incident during Pongal 2023, I’ve found myself deeply affected as a fan. You see, for nearly a year and a half now, my beloved Tamil movies have been barred from early morning screenings in the state. This restriction was put in place by the Tamil Nadu government following the accident, leading them to cease this practice altogether.
This situation has caused discontent amongst numerous residents within the state, primarily due to the fact that Tamil movies are being shown prematurely in other regions.
Moreover, Kanguva is currently grappling with both legal complications and financial strife stemming from unpaid debts. Fervently, fans are praying for a swift resolution of these matters in order to guarantee an uninterrupted premiere of the film on November 14th.
