Renowned film editor Nishadh Yusuf passed away at the age of 43 on Wednesday, October 20. According to the India Today report, the mortal remains were discovered at his house in Panampilly Nagar in Kochi at around 2 AM. The police officials reached his apartment to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of death.
The Directors’ Union of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) announced on their social media that renowned film editor Nishadh Yusuf (43) had tragically passed away. They posted on Facebook, “Nishadh Yusuf, a well-known film editor, has died suddenly. His body was discovered in an apartment in Panampally Nagar, Kochi this morning. He hailed from Haripad. In 2022, he was honored with the state award for best cinematographer for his work on the movie Thallumala.
The post expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nishadh Yusuf, a significant figure in Malayalam cinema, and praised his impact. It continued, “The film industry was shocked by the untimely death of Nishadh Yusuf, a film editor who significantly influenced the modern perspective of evolving Malayalam cinema.

Nishadh Yusuf, a renowned figure in the Indian film industry, has been widely recognized for his work as a film editor. He’s contributed to numerous popular films such as Thallumaala, Unda, One, Saudi Vellakka, and Adios Amigos. Last year, he secured a prominent position with his latest venture, the multi-regional movie Kanguva, featuring Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani, set to premiere in theaters on November 14.
Based on a report by FEFKA, it appears that Nishadh had several ongoing projects. He was busy editing an upcoming film titled Bazooka, which stars Mammootty, and he also had Alappuzha Gymkhana lined up. Furthermore, some reports suggest that he was overseeing the editing of another film, L360, featuring Mohanlal.
The Kanguva editor is now survived by his daughter, son and wife.
