As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast who has seen it all, from the pixelated graphics of the early ’90s to the high-definition masterpieces of today, I must say that the return of Kamal Haasan’s iconic character Senapathy in Indian 2 was nothing short of a nostalgia trip. With over three decades between the original and the sequel, it’s impressive how well the story has aged and remained relevant.
Following a 28-year hiatus, Kamal Haasan revisited his cherished Indian film series, this time playing a dual role in the 1996 production. This iconic performance conveyed themes of integrity and fairness that resonated with viewers. After nearly three decades, his Senapathy character graced the big screens once more, leaving audiences spellbound.
As an avid gamer, I find myself stepping back into the role of Senapathy, a character who’s seen more years than most (around 106). This time, he’s on a mission to shake up the corrupt powers that be in our nation. But, just like before, his methods for bringing harmony to society are causing quite a stir. And let me tell you, the repercussions of standing up against the status quo can be heavy indeed. Joining me on this adventure are my fellow actors Siddharth, SJ Suryah, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and even a cameo by Kajal Aggarwal. We’re ready to rock the boat, but will it be for peace or chaos? Only time will tell!
Indian 2 ending & spoilers
Although there was much excitement surrounding the film, it garnered varying opinions from viewers. Following its theater release, the movie is now available on Netflix. According to the streaming platform, its summary goes like this: “As corruption spreads throughout the nation, a band of vloggers persuade former freedom fighter-turned-vigilante Senapathy to reemerge and complete his task.”
An explanation of Indian 2’s ending with spoilers is below.
Why does Senapathy return to action?
In this revised version, let’s say: The story of Indian 2 unfolds with the introduction of Chitra Aravindhan (portrayed by Siddharth) and his companions, who operate a YouTube channel known as Barking Dogs in Chennai. Their objective is to unmask corrupt officials within the nation. However, when a woman takes her own life due to governmental pressure, they decide to amplify their voice by seeking more power. Consequently, they initiate a movement called ‘Bring Back India,’ with the hope of making significant changes.
Subsequently, it becomes clear that Senapathy operates a Varma Kalai school in Taipei. Remarkably, despite the police actively searching for him, Senapathy makes his way back to India where he embarks on a mission to uncover and bring down corrupt officials. He even directly appeals to the audience, urging them to scrutinize their own families for signs of corruption.
In an unexpected twist in the film, Chitra discovers that his working dad, Varadharajan, who is employed with the Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Commission, has been involved in corruption. He also finds out that this was the reason for a woman’s suicide. As a consequence, he decides to inform the anti-corruption and vigilance team, leading to his father’s arrest. Unfortunately, Chitra’s mother, stricken with embarrassment, accuses him of causing his father’s predicament and later takes her life due to the shame.
This makes him turn against Senapathy, and he begins another campaign titled ‘Go Back Indian.’
In summary, Senapathy finds himself under attack by a mob at a subway station. Utilizing his expertise in Martial Arts (Varma Kalai), he manages to extricate himself from the situation. Subsequently, when Pramod and Elango attempt to apprehend him, they themselves fall victim to his martial arts prowess. Pramod ends up being paralyzed, with only Senapathy possessing the ability to heal him. To secure his release, Senapathy makes a demand, which the court grants. He then eludes capture and vows to return at a later time.
