As an ardent gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the revelation of Kaiju No. 8 season 2 has sent shockwaves through the anime community, myself included. Having grown up in the era of Godzilla and Pacific Rim, the prospect of a new Kaiju series is like a sweet nectar to my gaming soul.

On Monday, August 5th, 2024, the official site of Kaiju No. 8 anime unveiled a fresh trailer, disclosing the approximate release date for the second season of Kaiju No. 8. Moreover, the site shared that a brand-new original episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off” is currently being made, as well as a compilation focusing on the anime’s first season.

In 2025, you can stream Kaiju No. 8 season 2 on Crunchyroll. Kōki Uchiyama is set to portray a new character named Gen Narumi. Additionally, both the original series episodes and a compilation film will premiere in Japanese cinemas in 2025 as well.

Kaiju No. 8 anime plot, staff & more

In a world filled with monstrous beings called Kaijus, Kafka Hibino dreams of joining the Defense Force alongside his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. However, their lives eventually take different paths. (This version maintains the original structure and intent while providing a more conversational and easily understood tone.)

“The summary goes on, ‘During his job of clearing up post-Kaiju fight chaos, Kafka encounters Reno Ichikawa. Reno’s ambition to enlist in the Defense Force stirs within Kafka an old vow he made to Mina, to safeguard humanity.'”

In the first part of Kaiju No. 8, we delve into the primary characters, such as Kafka Hibino, who undergoes a transformation into something he despises, much like in the comic. As for the second season, following the manga, it will animate the Kaiju Weapon Arc, starting from chapter 39.

As an enthusiastic fan, I’d like to share some insights about the creation of this captivating anime. The brilliant minds behind it were Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya, who masterfully directed the production at Production I.G. Ichiro Okouchi, another talented individual, was responsible for composing the entire series. When it came to the Kaiju designs and artwork, Studio Khara stepped up to the plate. Lastly, Tetsuya Nishio served as the chief animation director, also handling the intricate character design.

Back in July 2020, I kicked off the Kaiju No. 8 manga journey! This epic tale unfolded on the pages of Shueisha’s Shonen Jump Plus, and it ignited such a fire within me that it sparked a spin-off manga, an anime series set for 2024, and now even a PC and smartphone game! It’s a dream come true to be part of this incredible universe.
