In case you haven’t heard, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is a Canadian actress who traces her roots back to Sri Lanka and the Tamil community. She gained widespread recognition for portraying the character Devi Vishwakumar in the popular Netflix series Never Have I Ever.
This comedy-drama show, developed by Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher, traces the journey of an Indian-American teenager as she maneuvers through the highs and lows of adolescence following the unexpected death of her father.
For four seasons spanning up to 2023, the highly praised teenage growth drama aired, garnering critical acclaim across the board. Along with Maitreyi, this series boasted the talents of Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Ramona Young, and numerous others in pivotal roles.
From where I stand as an ardent admirer, let me tell you that recently, Jyotika graced our screens in a captivating supporting role for the Hindi biopic, “Srikanth.” This remarkable film recounts the life story of Srikanth Bolla, a visionary entrepreneur who defied his visual impairment to establish Bollant Industries. As I eagerly wait for more of her performances, I can’t help but feel inspired by this tale of resilience and determination.
In the movie headlined by Rajkummar Rao, it was Tushar Hiranandani who took charge as the director. Notably, Jyotika contributed significantly to the film’s plot, while Alaya F and Sharad Kelkar occupied pivotal roles too.
In the future, Jyotika will be prominently featured among the main actresses in the upcoming television series titled Dabba Cartel. This highly anticipated show, scheduled to premiere on February 28, 2025, boasts an impressive ensemble of actors such as Shabana Azmi, Shalini Pandey, Nimisha Sajayan, Sai Tamhankar and others.
