Justin Wong demonstrates how insane it is for Capcom to allow hidden bosses in CvS2 Ranked

As an ardent admirer, I can confidently say that my initial praise for Capcom Fighting Collection 2 remains unwavering. This compilation is nothing short of spectacular, showcasing some of Capcom’s finest arcade fighting games from different eras. However, during our recent review, we missed one intriguing (or perhaps ludicrous) element in Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium. Justin Wong recently brought this to light in a video, revealing that it’s possible not only to unlock the game’s hidden bosses in Ranked mode, but also to form a full team comprising all three of them. Frankly, this seems like an unorthodox strategy for that specific gameplay mode.

In a recent YouTube video on his channel, Wong demonstrated Ranked gameplay featuring hidden bosses from Capcom Fighting Collection 2’s Capcom vs. SNK 2. Here, he challenges unsuspecting online players with three of the most powerful fighting game boss characters ever created. At one instance (4:28), we witness a Sagat attempting to pin Shin Akuma down using Tiger Shots, but instead receives a teleporting super that swiftly depletes over 60% of his health bar in a single hit. Another scene showcases Orochi Iori employing rekka and oki pressure until the opponents succumb. Throughout the video, Wong effortlessly outmatches every opponent, including skilled players using top-tier teams.

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but express my frustration with Capcom’s recent decision in rank matches: “Man, even allowing boss characters seems like no big deal to them!”

Justin Wong aptly points out that these characters were intended to be glass cannons, but it appears the health reduction wasn’t enough to balance the playing field. These characters are notorious for their stringent unlock requirements and overwhelming combat power, thanks to their astronomical damage and an arsenal of versatile, exploitable moves.

If I’d been aware of this issue before writing my review, I wouldn’t have lowered the score for Capcom Arcade Collection 2 as it’s still an outstanding collection. However, I likely would have issued a cautionary note. Fortunately, Justin Wong is taking care of business, although at the cost of some unsuspecting online players. So, be mindful of competitive ranked play unless Capcom makes necessary adjustments.
