Justin Baldoni’s Lawyer Comments on Blake Lively Case ‘Settlement’ Possibility

Recently in an interview, lawyer Bryan Freedman, who represents Justin Baldoni, spoke about the potential resolution of the legal disagreement with Blake Lively. The host asked why neither party had come to a settlement given the harm the lawsuit has inflicted on both sides. Freedman’s response, which has generated much debate since, sheds light on the situation.

Here’s what Freedman said.

What did Justin Baldoni’s lawyer say about Blake Lively case?

Justin Baldoni’s legal representative, Bryan Freedman, expressed on The Town podcast that it’s doubtful a settlement will be reached in the case involving Blake Lively. Freedman stated that Baldoni has been greatly impacted by the accusations and stressed that his primary focus is to establish his innocence.

Host Matthew Belloni questioned whether a settlement would be the best way to avoid further damage to reputation. He speculated that both sides would eventually reach an agreement to prevent further fallout. However, Freedman pushed back, insisting that a trial is necessary to clear Baldoni’s name. He said, “Justin has been destroyed by this. This is a really serious thing, and in this day and age, the only way that you can truly get back is to prove your innocence.”

Lively filed her claims with the California Civil Rights Department in December 2024. She later escalated the case to federal court. She accused Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath of sexual harassment and planning a smear campaign. In response, Baldoni filed a $250 million defamation lawsuit against The New York Times for its coverage of the case. He later sued Lively and Ryan Reynolds for $400 million, claiming they attempted to control It Ends With Us and shift the narrative in their favor.

They both publicly released exclusive backstage videos to bolster their arguments. Neither party has shown signs of backing off, indicating that the court case will proceed to trial in March 2026.
