Justin Baldoni Drops Taylor Swift Extortion Claims, Blake Lively’s Lawyers Respond

Justin Baldoni‘s legal representatives have withdrawn their subpoena that initially alleged Taylor Swift’s team was attempting an extortion on the music icon, as reported by Blake Lively’s team.

What did Blake Lively’s team say about the subpoena?

According to a representative from Lively (as reported by TheWrap), it was confirmed that a subpoena had been withdrawn, with Lively’s legal team expressing satisfaction that Baldoni’s team had halted an investigation perceived as harassing regarding Swift and Lively’s romantic involvement.

The representative stated that we backed Taylor’s group in their attempt to dismiss these unwarranted subpoenas targeted at her legal advisor, and we are committed to defending anyone subjected to unfair harassment or intimidation during this process.

From the very beginning, the Baldoni and Wayfarer team have aimed to make Taylor Swift, a woman admired by tens of millions worldwide, the focus of this case. Leveraging Taylor Swift’s fame was part of Melissa Nathan’s initial strategy planning, and it remains so today. When they were forced to defend themselves in federal court, they found it difficult and eventually gave in. Ultimately, they will exhaust their attempts to divert attention from the allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation they are facing.

Last week, a letter submitted to court by Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, claims that Michael Gottlieb, acting for Lively, contacted Venable – a law firm representing Swift – according to THR. In simpler terms, Baldoni’s team suggests that the lawyer representing Lively has been in contact with Swift’s legal representatives.

The letter implied that Gottlieb expected Taylor Swift to publicly endorse Emily Lively, suggesting that if she declined, private, personal texts might be disclosed.

In his letter, Freedman stated that Swift’s legal team responded at least once in writing to the request. The document submitted by Freedman in court seeks to disclose these communications, as they are said to demonstrate that Lively’s team is attempting to intimidate a witness in their ongoing legal dispute with Baldoni and Lively.

In reply to the letter, Gottlieb countered by stating that the allegations are “completely unfounded,” and he found it “despicable” that Freedman was using unnamed sources.
