On Monday, lawyers for Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively convened in a tense court hearing to address the escalating legal dispute concerning their movie It Ends With Us. Blake Lively has alleged sexual harassment by Baldoni and claimed he orchestrated a damaging campaign against her, while Baldoni has filed a lawsuit for defamation in response.
In the courtroom, the atmosphere grew heated as Michael Gottlieb, representing Lively, accused Baldoni’s legal team of making statements in public that harmed Lively’s reputation. Neither Lively nor Baldoni were present at the pre-trial session. Instead, their legal representatives argued their cases. The arguments focused on the detrimental effects the trial has had on both parties.
The presiding Judge, Lewis Liman, cautioned that additional media attention might prompt a shift in the trial date to prevent possible prejudice among potential jurors. Currently, it is scheduled for March 2026. During the pre-trial hearing, the judge also emphasized the importance of a protective order. This order would play a significant role in shielding individuals related to the case from any further harassment or mistreatment by the involved parties. Both legal teams of Baldoni and Lively need to reach an accord on this matter regarding the protective order.
Lively’s legal team has announced their intention to submit an updated complaint by Valentine’s Day. This revised document will incorporate additional allegations and new parties involved. Simultaneously, Baldoni has initiated a libel lawsuit against The New York Times. The court filing accuses Lively of giving them early access to her civil rights grievance before its public release.
