As a seasoned lifestyle advisor, I’ve noticed a buzz surrounding the versatile Vijay Sethupathi, whose busy cinematic calendar has been making headlines lately. Recently, there’s been speculation about his project selection strategy – is he drawn to roles solely for financial reasons or does he prefer big-budget films? Let’s delve deeper into this intriguing question.
During an interview with Galatta, the well-respected actor made it clear that throughout his entire career in the entertainment business, he never took on a film purely for financial reasons.
As a devoted admirer, I’d like to clarify something often misconstrued about my film choices – the idea that I solely take on big-budget productions doesn’t hold water, for not every high-stakes project guarantees success at the box office.
Vijay Sethupathi spoke about his movie “Kadaisi Vivasayi”, which didn’t make much money at the box office yet was deeply appreciated by viewers.
He expressed that he doesn’t create films primarily for financial gain. Despite “Kadaisi Vivasayi” earning just 65 lakh rupees at the box office, he is content now that people enjoy it. Even high-budget movies don’t guarantee success all the time.
More recently, it’s been made known that Vijay will be part of Puri Jagannadh’s upcoming production. In this project, we also find Radhika Apte and Tabu taking on significant characters.
Yet, it was Vijay who faced queries concerning his choice to work alongside a director known for earlier unproductive films.
During an interview with ETimes, he shared that he doesn’t base his opinion of a filmmaker on the success or failure of their past films. Rather, he focuses solely on the quality of the script. If he finds the script appealing, he decides to take part in the project.
He mentioned, “Puri told me a tale that I found appealing. To be truthful, I’ve never made a film similar to this one, and I strive to select fresh narratives to ensure I don’t replicate previous work.
In terms of his professional career, the latest movies of Vijay Sethupathi, namely Maharaja and the sequel Viduthalai 2, have been massive successes and have excelled in their performances at the cinemas.
Moving forward, he’s got three thrilling projects coming his way, with the one titled “Ace” scheduled for launch on May 23, 2025.
Apart from that role, he’s also appearing in the film “Train,” which is helmed by Mysskin and features Shruti Haasan alongside him. Additionally, you might recognize him in “Thalaivan Thalaivii” where he acts alongside Nithya Menen.
