Japanese fashion designer Junya Watanabe is captivated by punk rock aesthetics and isn’t shy about expressing it. Making an appearance at Paris Fashion Week ahead of others, he showcased his Fall/Winter 2025 collection under the sunny skies of Paris. Renowned for challenging conventions, Watanabe never fails to astonish with innovative designs that surge with creativity, defying traditional norms.
For the Fall-Winter season 25, Junya Watanabe persisted in his exploration of unusual shapes and experimented with fashion folding techniques. Initially, the designs were showcased on black models, creatively shaping glossy leather into striking formations. Significant motorcycle jackets were accentuated with geometric inserts such as triangles, hexagons, and squares, offering a fresh perspective on traditional human silhouettes by emphasizing geometry.
Following this, Watanabe reinvented the conventional trench coat, shaping thin materials into three-dimensional artworks. Models were enveloped by spherical furs and inflated puffer jackets that transformed into abstract figures, all while maintaining an unusual aesthetic. Watanabe concluded his FW25 collection with paneled tuxedos, offering a glimpse into the creative process of a true master.
