The optimal Overwatch 2 Stadium Junkrat setup significantly varies based on your playstyle, the upcoming maps, and the composition of your opponents. With a diverse array of abilities and items at his disposal, Junkrat can amplify his projectiles, scatter traps throughout the battlefield, and shower enemies with bombs from above. However, there’s no one-size-fits-all best choice for him.
In our Overwatch 2 Stadium Junkrat setup, we adopt a versatile strategy, equipping him with abilities and gear that work well in various scenarios rather than focusing on specific, niche conditions.
Overwatch 2 Stadium: Best powers for Junkrat
As a dedicated Junkrat fan, I’ve found that the versatility of his abilities largely depends on my unique playstyle and even the specific map we’re on. His mayhem-related skills show great promise for managing zones and inflicting damage on opponents while I flee, but their effectiveness in either area significantly dwindles when I find myself in open spaces or facing an enemy team spread thinly across the map.
Instead of concentrating fully on one specific aspect, we’ve chosen a strategy that maintains flexibility and keeps the other team guessing, while also ensuring we dominate crucial zones.
- 2 Frag 2 Furious – Junkrat has a 25 percent chance to launch a second projectile without consuming ammo
- Trap II, Esquire – If you detonate a concussion mine after 0.5 seconds, it spawns a smaller steel trap that slows enemies, rather than stopping them completely
- Bango – Direct hits with Junkrat’s primary fire, if the projectile doesn’t bounce, burn enemies for 20 percent additional damage over two seconds
- Rip Roll – Ultimate is 20 percent cheaper, and Junkrat enters the Rip Tire after letting it loose
2 Frag 2 Furious’ additional blast is unpredictable, yet it may discharge between six and ten projectiles prior to needing a reload. Although not all may hit, it’s an effective method for deterring enemies from approaching a particular zone and inflicting substantial damage if they do approach. On the other hand, Trap II allows you to strategically place small steel traps that serve as barriers, forcing the opposing team to either spend time dismantling them or navigate through them. This can be accomplished without directly engaging in combat on the front lines.
Bango excels in close-quarters combat since it’s unlikely to inflict a non-rebounding blow from afar. However, it swiftly defeats weaker foes, wears down heavy opponents, and can exhaust enemies at a faster rate than Ana and Kiriko can purify. If you favor long-range battles, however, consider using Big Bang instead, which amplifies the projectile’s size after it rebounds.
Overwatch 2 Stadium: Best items for Junkrat
We’re ignoring ability power for this build to maximize Junkrat’s weapon damage instead.
- Springier Spring – +25 health, +five percent attack speed, +25 percent frag launcher bounce speed
- Talon Modification Module – +15 percent weapon power
- Zip Grease – +25 health, +five percent weapon power. After detonating a concussion mine, your next two frag launcher projectiles travel 200 percent faster and deal 10 percent more damage to airborne enemies
- Booster Jets – +20 percent weapon speed. Gain 10 percent move speed for two seconds when you use an ability
- Commander’s Clip – +10 percent attack speed, +40 percent ammo. Restore 10 percent of your max ammo when you use an ability
- Icy Coolant – +10 percent weapon power, +five percent ability cooldown
Overwatch 2 Stadium: Best early-game items for Junkrat
When the match is just getting started, use these items.
- Compensator – +five percent weapon power
- Ammo Reserves – +10 percent max ammo
- Stockpile – +five percent attack speed, +25 percent ammo
Essentially, a variety of heroes are capable of dealing with Junkrat, but robust characters such as Reaper and Mei, aerial characters like Juno, and tanky champions who can withstand his projectiles, including D.Va and Sigma, are particularly effective in confronting him.
