As a devoted fan of the Jumanji franchise, the announcement of the release date for Jumanji 3 has me jumping with joy! Ever since I watched Robin Williams bring the original Jumanji to life back in 1995, I’ve been hooked. Fast forward to 2017, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan took the adventure to a whole new level in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and now they’re coming back for more!
A Jumanji 3 release date has been announced.
In 2017, Dwayne Johnson acted alongside Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan in the film “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” which was helmed by director Jake Kasdan. A follow-up, also directed by Kasdan, entitled “Jumanji: The Next Level” premiered in 2019.
Back in March 2020, Kasdan announced plans for a third Jumanji film. According to Deadline, the production team has now officially set a release date for Jumanji 3.
When is the Jumanji 3 release date?
On December 11, 2026, theatres across the U.S. will screen Jumanji 3, which is being distributed by Sony Pictures. It’s anticipated that Kasdan, Johnson, Hart, Black, and Gillan will reprise their roles in this upcoming film.
At the moment, specifics about the storyline are kept secret. It’s yet to be determined if the teenage characters portrayed by Johnson, Black, Hart, and Gillan in the previous films, who were played by Alex Wolff, Ser’Darious Blain, Madison Iseman, and Morgan Turner respectively, will return for this installment as well.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is actually a follow-up film to the original Jumanji released in 1995, itself inspired by Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 children’s book of the same title. Robin Williams, David Alan Grier, Kirsten Dunst, and Bonnie Hunt were among the stars in that movie. In 2005, a spin-off titled Zathura: A Space Adventure, directed by Jon Favreau, was produced.
As a diehard fan, I can’t help but feel absolutely thrilled about the massive success of Jumanji! The 2017 film alone raked in an astounding $950 million at the global box office, and its sequel followed suit with an impressive $801.7 million. Sony Pictures must be over the moon with such phenomenal returns!
Before Jumanji 3, Kasdan and Johnson are set to collaborate again for the film titled Red One, hitting US theaters on November 15, 2024. This upcoming Christmas adventure movie features Chris Evans, Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Bonnie Hunt, and J.K. Simmons as co-stars.
Both “Jumanji” from 1995 and “Zathura: A Space Adventure” can be streamed on Netflix at this time. Meanwhile, you can find “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” and “Jumanji: The Next Level” on Hulu for viewing.
