In an interview with BBC, Garner expressed, “Well, I’ll just keep doing my job as usual.” She also emphasized that she will portray Shalla-Bal, a female variation of the Silver Surfer, a role that was previously played by Norrin Radd in Fantastic Four films. She added, “And it’s Shalla-Bal, so it’s a different take.
The actress expressed her gratitude for the enthusiasm about the project, stating, “I was simply pleased to see it striking a chord, much like any other endeavor. Truthfully, I feel fortunate to be part of it.
In an earlier conversation with Entertainment Weekly, the Emmy award recipient expressed her initial bewilderment upon being offered a role that seemed to be for a male character, specifically the Silver Surfer. She admitted, “I was puzzled, thinking, ‘But isn’t the Silver Surfer a man?’ However, my response was, ‘Alright, I’m game for anything.'” Later on, she disclosed that she had meetings with director Matt Shakman and discovered that she would instead be depicting the character Shalla-Bal.
In order to get ready for her entry into the superhero genre, Garner immersed herself deeply in the original content. She confided, “I delved headfirst. I read numerous issues of Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer comics before embarking on this project. I was aware that this ‘Fantastic Four’ would be told in a unique way compared to even other films.
