Emmy winner Josh O’Connor is one of the stars of Steven Spielberg’s UFO movie.
During an interview with Deadline, O’Connor described the movie as reminiscent of classic Spielberg, likening it to some of the director’s earlier science fiction films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Alien.
Instead of keeping details about the storyline secret, O’Connor hinted at his character being an American and having a connection with Emily Blunt’s character. When inquired whether their bond was marital or familial, O’Connor dodged the question by seemingly ending the discussion.

What led O’Connor to appear in a Spielberg film? The journey began with a message from his talent representative on an evening known for its A-list celebrities.
Approximately a year ago, I found myself in New York City, and on the evening of the Met Gala, I received a text from my agent stating, “Could we meet Steven Spielberg tomorrow for coffee?” To which I eagerly replied, “Yes!” The following day, I visited his office at Amblin. He shared that he didn’t have a script yet, but he outlined the story of the upcoming movie and asked, “Would you be interested in working on it?
Initially, when asked by Spielberg, O’Connor playfully replied that he would consider the offer. However, later on, O’Connor agreed to take the role and collaborate with Spielberg, whom he regards as a “very unique individual.
O’Connor described the casting process as quite clear-cut. ‘He’s simply extraordinary,’ he added. ‘His energy is phenomenal – I’ve never seen anything like it. He approaches you, almost like a child bursting with excitement over an idea or thought, and it’s nothing short of inspiring.’
In an upcoming UFO film yet-to-be-titled, you’ll see stars like O’Connor and Blunt sharing the screen with Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell.
