As a fan of both Josh Brolin and James Cameron, I find it intriguing to delve into the dynamic between these two powerhouse figures in the film industry. From Brolin’s memoir and interviews, it’s clear that he isn’t one to back down from challenging roles or strong-willed directors. His decision to turn down a role in Avatar 2, despite Cameron’s initial displeasure, speaks volumes about his commitment to the projects he chooses.
Josh Brolin recently shared memories of James Cameron’s response after Brolin declined an offer for a role in Cameron’s blockbuster sequel, “Avatar 2”.
As I, the gamer, I’ve been sharing my memoir titled “From Under the Truck” since it hit shelves on November 19th. This book offers a unique glimpse into my life, from my early days up until my movie adventures.
Josh Brolin reveals James Cameron’s reaction when he turned down Avatar role
Actor Josh Brolin recently sat down for a conversation with Graham Bensinger on his program, In Depth with Graham Bensinger. During this visit, which was meant primarily for promoting his memoir, Brolin also discussed the instance where he declined an opportunity to join the Avatar series from director James Cameron.
In a YouTube video by Graham Bensinger, Josh Brolin explained that James Cameron became upset when he declined Cameron’s offer for a project, stating that “it’s understandable given his vision and stature, as people are often grateful for the opportunities he provides.” Later, Brolin added that he wasn’t sure if Cameron was angry due to their lack of personal relationship, saying, “I can’t say for certain with him because we aren’t close friends. However, it seems to be about the project rather than Cameron himself.
In an interview with Esquire Magazine back in 2017, Josh Brolin made it clear that if he didn’t want to be part of the Avatar project, he simply wouldn’t do it. He also mentioned that James Cameron was using some strong language with him, but it didn’t seem to bother him much.
It’s common knowledge that Josh Brolin was given a role in the 2022 film “Avatar: The Way of Water,” directed by James Cameron, but he never disclosed any additional details about the part he was offered. Interestingly, “Avatar 2” broke box office records when it was released in 2022, earning more than $2.3 billion worldwide.
