As a seasoned gamer of Hollywood trivia, I can’t help but appreciate Jordana Brewster‘s journey from soap operas to blockbuster films. Her words resonate deeply with me, as I too have dabbled in the world of acting (in community theater productions, mind you).
Throughout her illustrious Hollywood career, Jordana Brewster has graced many prominent productions, yet prior to her rise to stardom, she began her acting journey in the realm of soap operas – an unexpected yet rewarding pathway into the acting profession according to the actress herself.
In an exclusive chat with ComingSoon, I (Brewster) shared some insights into my latest project, Cellar Door. Reflecting on my past experiences, I revealed that television soap operas provided me with a wealth of technical knowledge and allowed me to grow as an actor in a low-stakes environment.
What did Jordana Brewster say about working on soap operas?
“In essence, you need to memorize eight pages of dialogue within a day, which means learning your lines and sticking to them. Additionally, you’ll need to get comfortable with cameras and hitting your mark, which helps you grasp technical aspects of acting. Lastly, since it gets aired once and then disappears forever, the pressure is low, making it an ideal setting for actors to experiment and learn.
Initially, Brewster made her acting debut in a 1995 episode of the popular daytime drama All My Children. Later that year, she was chosen to play Nikki Munson in the equally renowned soap opera As the World Turns, where she starred for six years, appearing in a total of 118 episodes.
Ever since that breakthrough moment, I’ve been absolutely thrilled to see Brewster shine in numerous blockbuster movies and series. From the witty charm of Chuck to the grit of Dallas, the action-packed Lethal Weapon, and the high-octane Fast & Furious franchise where she’s been part of no less than seven films!
