Jonathan Majors Sets Movie Return But It’s Not Avengers: Doomsday

After facing a federal lawsuit in 2023, actor Jonathan Majors has been selected to spearhead an action film by Gerard McMurray, director of “The First Purge.” Interestingly, this movie is not connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This news surfaced following the unveiling of the cast for Avengers: Doomsday.

What is Jonathan Majors’ upcoming movie?

Major is slated to headline the action film titled “True Threat“, which represents his second acting role since the lawsuit. In June, it was officially confirmed that he will star in Martin Villeneuve’s revenge thriller, “Merciless”, adapted from Frank Hannah’s script.

In the upcoming film titled “True Threat,” the character of Vernon Threat will be portrayed by our main actors, who will embody a father’s intense and perilous journey to seek vengeance for his slain child.

This story, titled “True Threat,” follows the character Vernon Threat (played by Majors) as he embarks on a tireless mission for justice following the murder of his teenage son at the hands of a Harlem gang called The Apollo Kids. Driven by vengeance, Threat sneaks into The Carter, a towering 20-story housing project building that acts as their fortress, fighting his way up through the floors to confront the gang’s leader and his former mentor, ‘Shallow.’ (This plot description is courtesy of Deadline.)

The actor primarily gained fame for playing Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Loki on Disney+. However, in 2023, he was dismissed by Marvel Studios following a domestic violence lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. The lawsuit accused him of assault and defamation. Later, in November of the previous year, Jabbari withdrew the lawsuit, bringing an end to their legal dispute.

Besides his involvement with Marvel Cinematic Universe films, this actor has also appeared in movies such as The Last Black Man in San Francisco, The Harder They Fall, Devotion, Creed III, Captive State, Gully, Jungleland, Da 5 Bloods, Lovecraft Country, and Magazine Dreams.

Other details about True Threat remain under wraps.
