Jon Hamm Was Considered for X-Men Marvel Role

X-Men ’97 creator Beau DeMayo says he considered casting Jon Hamm in a villainous role.

In a natural and easy to read manner: DeMayo was the one who initiated the production of Disney+ and Marvel Studios’ X-Men ’97 series, which debuted in March 2024. Currently, at least two more seasons are being developed; unfortunately, DeMayo was let go as the show’s main writer around the time that the first season aired on TV.

In the meantime, Hamm has consistently expressed his desire to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Previously, he discussed potential discussions about portraying Mister Sinister in an X-Men production, but unfortunately, that never materialized.

Lately, Hamm hinted through ScreenRant that he’s unsure about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, yet he remains eager for a chance to participate should it arise.

Hamm stated, “It’s unclear what transpires within the hidden realm of that corporation; however, I can tell you I hold a great deal of admiration for it. Perhaps, my feelings are returned.

Who could have Jon Hamm played in X-Men ’97?

In light of numerous discussions about Hamm potentially entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe, DeMayo has disclosed that he once contemplated having Hamm as the voice actor for the character #Bastion.

In the Marvel Comics series, the character of Bastion, a villain from the X-Men team that was introduced by Scott Lobdell and Pascual Ferry in 1996 (specifically in The Uncanny X-Men #333), has been given to Theo James from “The Monkey” for voice acting. Other notable voices in the show include Ray Chase as Cyclops, Jennifer Hale as Jean Grey, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, and several others.

Currently, Hamm portrays Andrew Cooper in Apple TV+’s series titled “Your Friends and Neighbors.” The initial two episodes of this show have been released on their streaming platform, with additional episodes premiering weekly until the season concludes on May 30, 2025.
