Jon Favreau, the brain behind the Star Wars series “The Mandalorian“, has recently shared his thoughts on potentially expanding the storyline post the release of the upcoming film titled “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, which he will be directing.

The popular series “The Mandalorian” has run for three seasons on Disney+, airing from November 12, 2019, through April 19, 2023. The show’s tremendous success has spurred additional TV productions like “The Book of Boba Fett,” “Ahsoka,” and “Skeleton Crew.” Following the ending of “The Mandalorian,” a continuation titled “The Mandalorian & Grogu” is planned to carry on the story.

During a recent interview with Collider at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan, Jon Favreau clarified that he is presently dedicating his efforts primarily to The Mandalorian and Grogu, implying that the show may not have concluded its run yet.

Currently, the filmmaker is concentrating on the specific feature since there’s another year left of the project. As editing progresses and visual effects are applied, many new discoveries are made. At this moment, they are deeply immersed in crafting the cinematic narrative that will unfold on the big screen.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation when pondering whether we might be graced with Season 4 of “The Mandalorian.” Back in February 2024, exciting news broke that the fourth season was allegedly underway. However, as of now, it remains to be seen if and when this will materialize.

At the moment, it’s undecided if we’ll get a fourth season. The studio seems to be focusing more on the big screen for this part of the Star Wars saga, making the possibility of a fourth season somewhat questionable.

The Mandalorian & Grogu premieres in US theaters on May 22, 2026.
