Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Makes MCU Appearance in Daredevil: Born Again Footage

As a veteran gamer who’s seen his fair share of superhero battles and reboots, I can confidently say that the return of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again is a sight for sore eyes! The gritty realism he brought to the character on Netflix’s Daredevil was a breath of fresh air, and I can’t wait to see him back in action.

Jon Bernthal’s Punisher returns in the first Daredevil: Born Again footage.

In the second season of Marvel’s and Netflix’s Daredevil series, Bernthal’s character, Frank Castle/The Punisher, made his first appearance. Subsequently, he led a standalone series, titled The Punisher, spanning over two seasons.

Previously, it had been made known that Bernthal would be returning to the character he played before in Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again, set to debut on Disney+ in March of next year.

Marvel Entertainment recently shared a sneak peek video hinting at various Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions set to debut on Disney+ soon. The clip also showcases brief glimpses of Daredevil: Born Again, where Charlie Cox reprises his role as Daredevil alongside Jon Bernthal’s Punisher.

Here are some tantalizing screenshots, shared through X’s posts on DiscussingFilm, showcasing the highly-anticipated return of Bernthal: I can’t wait to see it!

Was the Netflix Daredevil series set in the MCU?

The Netflix series Daredevil shares the same universe as Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU), but it was deliberately given a grittier feel and kept separate from significant interactions with other prominent MCU characters. However, it did connect with The Defenders, an event where characters from different Netflix shows like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage united to fight a common threat.

Ever since the series finale, I’ve been thrilled to see Charlie Cox’s Daredevil pop up in various Marvel Cinematic Universe ventures. From Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021, to She-Hulk: Attorney at Law in 2022, and all the way to Echo in 2024, it’s been a joy to follow his appearances!

In the newly unveiled Marvel production, we find Cox and D’Onofrio’s characters, Wilson Fisk/Kingpin and Matt Murdock, engaged in another fierce confrontation. Moreover, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Ayelet Zurer, and Wilson Bethel will reappear in their roles as Karen Page, Franklin “Foggy” Nelson, Vanessa Marianna-Fisk, and Benjamin “Dex” Pointdexter/Bullseye respectively.

Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ on March 4, 2025.
