Jon Bernthal talks The Punisher’s Special Presentation on Disney+

Jon Bernthal, well-known for portraying Marvel’s The Punisher from the initial Daredevil show on Netflix, lately shared his views regarding the upcoming Punisher special.

At the SXSW Festival, the actor spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his upcoming film, “The Accountant 2.” Regarding a Marvel Studios special, he expressed his gratitude for the chance to share a story he believes fans will appreciate. He emphasized that it won’t be an easy or light tale, but rather one that suits the character well, and he feels incredibly privileged to be part of it.

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: “Just like how the original game wasn’t a walk in the park, neither will this Disney+ special. The Punisher isn’t about shedding light on the darkness; it’s about diving headfirst into it. It won’t be an easy ride, that’s for sure. It’ll be raw, gritty, and unapologetically Punisher – nothing like a watered-down version.

Moreover, Brad Winderbaum expressed similar sentiments about the Punisher special’s narrative in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in February. He described it as a “powerful, emotional tale,” yet one that delivers an intense, action-packed punch, much like a shotgun blast. Winderbaum was impressed by Jon Bernthal’s portrayal of the Punisher.

He continued by expressing, “He has an intimate understanding of his personality… It’s exciting to think about him being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and sharing this depth with a broader audience, which as a fan, is simply amazing.
