The narrative of Joker revolves around a character named Mannar Mannan, who hails from a rural background and claims himself as the President of India. He voices his discontent against injustices occurring in his hometown, and with a modest group of supporters, he files lawsuits to address these issues. One lawsuit focuses on a troublesome sand mining company, while another concerns a school owner who neglects their responsibilities. However, when the court discards his case, Mannan retaliates against the school owner, leading to his arrest. The details of his past are unveiled through court records.
In a turn of events, Mannan develops feelings for Malliga, who stipulates that she’ll marry him once he constructs a toilet. He submits an application for a government program to fund the project, but gets tricked and ends up only receiving a basin instead. On the day the President visits to inaugurate a completed toilet, officials hurriedly finish one at Mannan’s place. Unfortunately, during a heavy storm, the incomplete walls of his house collapse on Malliga, leaving her in a coma-like state. His request for euthanasia is denied, and he is labeled as mentally unsound. As he exits the hospital, a sand miner’s truck accidentally hits him. His companions report his death as a murder, while they continue to care for the unconscious Malliga.
