It seems that Yu allegedly physically attacked Johnny Somali in a public place due to past misconduct in South Korea. Consequently, authorities apprehended him and delivered him to the prosecutors for investigation on the charge of assault.
It seems that Dalgeun Yu’s attack on Somali was triggered by Somali’s disrespectful behavior towards the Statue of Peace earlier. This monument is deeply significant for Koreans as it commemorates the victims of sexual slavery during World War II. It appears that Yu felt insulted by Somali’s actions at this heritage site, which led to him knocking out the controversial YouTuber.
Following the incident, Dalgeun Yu, who had previously served in South Korea’s Underwater Demolition Team (UDT) and SEALs, has been formally accused. On November 28, he was relocated to the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office for further proceedings.
Even after his arrest, Yu continues to assert that his actions were taken solely to uphold the honor and integrity of his country. Furthermore, this former military member who now streams live content has requested financial support from the public to cover his legal expenses.
