As a seasoned gamer who has seen more than a few online personalities rise and fall, I must say that Johnny Somali is one of the most bizarre cases I’ve ever encountered. With over a decade spent behind bars in South Korea, you’d think he’d learn from his mistakes. But no, he continues to push the boundaries, even twerking at a peace statue and threatening to do it again if TikTok bans him.
In a recent live broadcast, a well-known figure on the internet, known for stirring up controversy, stated unequivocally that he has no plans to alter his questionable actions, regardless of whether or not TikTok decides to ban him.
Over 10 years in a South Korean Prison
Earlier, we shared information indicating that Johnny Somali may potentially serve over a decade in a South Korean correctional facility as a result of his actions.
The charges include assault and drug abuse, but also the use of a deepfake program to make it appear as though he was in a relationship with a famous Korean streamer.
Yet, the act that definitively transgressed all remaining limits occurred when he performed an explicit dance, known as twerking, in front of a commemorative statue. This statue serves as a tribute to the victims who endured sexual enslavement during the war in Japan.
Not just the general public, but also the South Korean administration, has expressed concern over these actions and is keeping a close eye on this YouTube personality.
No remorse from Somali
Due to these occurrences, it’s not unexpected that Somali has been largely prohibited across most platforms, with Kick being among them. However, TikTok is one of the exceptions where he continues to maintain his presence.
Instead of acting responsibly and aiming to prevent a TikTok ban, Somali instead warned of more extreme conduct. He openly declared that if he were banned, he would revisit the peace statue to repeat his disgraceful antics.
In the stream, he declared:
I swear to God, if you ban me from TikTok, I’ll go back to the statue tomorrow. If TikTok bans me, I’m going back!
Considering the significant disconnect from reality, it’s not a matter of if but when Somali will encounter severe repercussions for his actions. The question is not about the timing, but rather when this occurrence will take place. When it does, it’s highly probable that the consequences will extend far beyond just a TikTok ban.
What’s your opinion on Somali? Do you think he’ll face appropriate consequences soon?
