John Erwin Passes Away, He-Man Voice Actor Was 88

John Erwin has passed away. The He-Man and the Masters of the Universe voice actor was 88.

According to Celeborx’s public relations representatives, Erwin passed away on approximately December 20th, in his residence in Camarillo, California, as a result of natural causes.

As I share some personal history, I was born on December 5, 1936, right here in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Kicking off my journey in the world of entertainment, I made my debut playing different roles in the TV series Citizen Soldier.

After 1959, Erwin became part of the ensemble for the western show Rawhide, which featured Clint Eastwood. Approximately ten years after that, he started providing the voice for Morris the Cat in numerous TV advertisements.

Back in 1968, I started lending my voice to Reggie on The Archie Show. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of reprising that role across a host of related series too – like Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Archie’s TV Funnies, The U.S. of Archie, The New Archie and Sabrina Hour, and numerous others.

Starting from 1983, he started portraying the lead role of He-Man in the show “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.” He continued to embody this character in the “She-Ra: Princess of Power” series as well. Additionally, he provided voices for characters such as Beast Man and several others across various He-Man productions.

Working with John Erwin was like a tale of humor, proficiency, and the unexpected, according to Alan Oppenheimer, who voiced Skeletor on He-Man. “He was an actor in series, writer, commercial performer, musician, painter, and simply a delightful man,” he added. “John left an indelible mark on my life.

Melendy Britt, who voiced She-Ra in He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, stated, “John Erwin, my screen brother for 40 years, was also my dear friend off-screen.

As a gamer reflecting on my favorite movies, I’ve got quite an eclectic mix. From the action-packed 13 Fighting Men in the ’60s, to the intriguing Looker in 1981, I was hooked on the thrill of these silver screen adventures. Fast forward to the ’80s, and I found myself immersed in the magical worlds of He-Man and She-Ra: The Secret of the Sword, Skeletor’s Revenge, and even the All-American football drama, Everyone’s All-American. Time-traveling to 1989, I joined Marty McFly on his journey in Back to the Future Part II, and finally, in 1995, I cheered for the lovable pig in Babe. Quite a rollercoaster ride, isn’t it?

ComingSoon sends condolences to Erwin’s family and friends at this time.
