The films, under the labels of Roadside Attractions, Lionsgate, and LD Entertainment, have secured the distribution rights for North America. Anticipate its screening in U.S. cinemas this autumn season.

In this movie, Jennifer Lopez and Diego Luna take on leading roles, and they are also involved behind the scenes as executive producers. Meanwhile, Tonatiuh from Carry-On is featured as Molina in the film titled Kiss of the Spider Woman.

1983, set in Argentina under the oppressive military rule, two prisoners named Valentín (Luna) and Molina (Tonatiuh) are confined together in a small cell. At first, they clash, but as Molina shares stories of his beloved movie, Kiss of the Spider Woman, a vibrant tale filled with music, dance, and the seductive Ingrid Luna (Lopez), the film’s story unfolds about a woman evading a legendary creature that kills with a kiss. As they both imagine this enchanting Technicolor journey, they find solace from their confinement, and their shared experience fosters hope, dignity, and camaraderie.

The film was created by Bill Condon, a director who has previously penned the script for the 2002 film Chicago, followed by projects like Dreamgirls from 2006, both parts of the Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn, the 2017 adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, among others.

In his statement, director Condon expressed that he feels strongly that the film should be seen in a cinema setting. He is thrilled to collaborate with Roadside Attractions, Lionsgate Studios, and LD Entertainment to make this a reality. On a more personal note, this partnership seems like a homecoming for him as Lionsgate was the studio that acquired Gods and Monsters at Sundance in 1998, and he has worked with them and Roadside on three other films since then.
