Jenna Ortega and The Weeknd Unveil Haunting Poster for Hurry Up Tomorrow

As a thrilled enthusiast, I can’t help but share the chills that ran down my spine upon seeing the hauntingly beautiful poster for “Hurry Up Tomorrow”! This new piece of art features none other than Abel Tesfaye (also recognized as The Weeknd) and Jenna Ortega, hinting at their upcoming musical psychological thriller.

Tomorrow’s Rush revolves around The Weeknd’s sixth studio album with the same title, which dropped back in January. This film, masterminded by Trey Edward Shults, known for It Comes at Night and Waves, is slated to hit theaters on May 16, 2025. Co-penned by Shults, The Weeknd, and Reza Fahim, it promises an exciting cinematic experience for all.

In the upcoming film, The Weeknd plays a role where he portrays himself. Joining him is the talented Ortega from Scream and Wednesday, who takes on the character Anima. Barry Keoghan, known for his work in Saltburn, plays Lee, while country sensation Gabby Barrett appears as Isabella. Lastly, Charli D’Amelio, famously recognized from The D’Amelio Show, will be seen dancing.

Although the trailer for Hurry Up Tomorrow doesn’t provide many specifics regarding the movie’s plot, its logline suggests that it tells the story of a musician struggling with insomnia, drawn into an adventure with a mysterious stranger who starts peeling back the layers of his very identity.

Previous analyses have pointed out that the forthcoming film bears resemblances to the movie Misery, which stars Kathy Bates and James Caan. This new production follows the plot of an obsessed admirer harassing a well-known creator.

Previously in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, The Weeknd disclosed that his film character is an artist who’s teetering on the edge of a mental collapse. The director further elaborated: “He encounters a woman, and they embark on this journey together. It blends elements of psychological thriller and drama. To be honest, I’ve never seen a movie quite like it.

Tomorrow sees The Weeknd delving into acting once more, building upon his previous roles in The Idol (a joint creation with Sam Levinson and Fahim) and Uncut Gems.

Hurry Up Tomorrow, which hails from Lionsgate, hits theaters on May 16.
