Jared Padalecki to Lead Texas Medical Show for CBS

Actor Jared Padalecki, known for his supernatural roles, has secured his next venture – a new Texas-based medical series co-created by Walker’s showrunner Anna Fricke. This announcement follows more than half a year since the western drama reboot of the same name concluded its four-season run.

What character will Jared Padalecki play in the Texas medical show?

Jared Padalecki has accepted the main part in CBS’s forthcoming medical drama set at a hospital in a remote area. Following his portrayal of a renowned Texas ranger in The CW’s Walker, Padalecki will now play the character of a determined, compassionate rural doctor who employs an unconventional method of medicine. Alongside him is a young doctor, escaping her past, who serves as his protégé. Together they run a mobile clinic and provide medical care to a disadvantaged community in Texas’s medically deserted countryside.

The project is being overseen creatively by Fricke, Padalecki, Laura Terry, and Dan Spilo. This falls under Fricke’s broader agreement and Padalecki’s initial agreement with CBS Studios. This represents the pair’s latest joint venture for CBS. Apart from their current work on an as-yet-unnamed medical drama, they are also collaborating on a Fire Country spin-off called Fire Country: Surfside. At present, this spin-off is yet to secure a formal series order.

Jared Padalecki is primarily recognized for his unforgettable portrayal of Sam Winchester throughout the extended run of Supernatural (15 seasons from 2005-2019). Lately, he has been seen in Fire Country’s current season, where he embodied the character of Camden Casey across three episodes.
