Jani Basha, aka Jani Master, was accused of sexually assaulting his young colleague over the years during outdoor shoots. The case against him was initially filed as a zero FIR at Raidurgam but then was transferred to the Narsingi police for further investigation.
The renowned choreographer who has won the National Award is currently facing charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These include sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt). Additionally, he has been accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. The reason for this is that during the investigation, it came to light that the victim in the crime was a minor at the time of the alleged incident.
According to a report in Great Andhra, a senior official has indicated that the police will soon submit a petition for the suspect’s custody, and it appears highly unlikely that Jani Master will be granted bail. The official explained, “The case is strong, and the possibility of bail is slim. We are currently considering the request for his custody to carry out additional questioning related to the accusations against him.
Following her husband’s arrest, Sumalatha (also known as Ayesha) publicly addressed the controversy in an interview with TV9. She firmly rejected all accusations against Jani Master, stating, “The claim that a woman was harassed at age 16 is abhorrent and unfounded. There is no truth to it. If the accuser can provide proof, I will stand by my husband.
Furthermore, she suggested a broader scheme was at play to harm Jani Master’s public image. Ayesha, who has been married to Master for 14 years without children, expressed her familiarity with him and stated emphatically that his character does not match the allegations being made.
