As a long-time admirer of thought-provoking cinema that delves deep into human emotions, I’m absolutely thrilled about the upcoming streaming release of “Janet Planet” on Max! The film’s unique blend of coming-of-age drama and magical realism is right up my alley. Having spent a significant part of my childhood in rural areas, I can only imagine the rich tapestry of experiences that this film will weave.
I’m thrilled to share that Warner Bros. has finally unveiled the release date for the streaming premiere of the captivating coming-of-age drama, “Janet Planet” by A24! This announcement follows a three-month gap since its initial theatrical release. Can’t wait to watch it again on my favorite streaming platform!
In the countryside of Western Massachusetts during the summer of 1991, 11-year-old Lacy finds herself at home, engrossed in her own creativity and cherishing the company of her mother, Janet. As time progresses, three individuals become part of their circle, each enamored by Janet’s mesmerizing personality. During quieter moments, Lacy immerses herself in an intricately detailed inner universe that gradually influences reality. This film beautifully portrays a child’s perception of the passage of time and the complex emotions experienced as a daughter distances herself from her mother, marking a remarkable debut for this cinematic endeavor.
When is the Janet Planet Max release date?
On Friday, November 1, Janet Planet will have its streaming premiere on Max. The next day, on Saturday, November 2, it will air for the first time in linear format on HBO. Prior to being released on Max, this film had its global debut at the 50th Telluride Film Festival last year. At present, it has a fresh certification on Rotten Tomatoes with a Tomatometer rating of 85%.
The movie is a debut directorial work of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker, who both wrote and directed it. Julianne Nicholson, Zoe Ziegler, Elias Koteas (from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Will Patton (Minari), and Sophie Okonedo (Slow Horses) make up the star-studded cast. Annie Baker, Dan Janvey, Derrick Tseng, and Andrew Goldman are the producers of this production.
