Jamie Lee Curtis Won’t Play Dr. Kureha in One Piece Season 2

As a dedicated One Piece fan who has followed the series since its early days, I was thrilled when I heard Jamie Lee Curtis expressed her desire to play Dr. Kureha in the upcoming anime adaptation by Netflix. The thought of an Oscar-winning actress bringing life to one of my favorite characters was an exciting prospect.

During last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike, Jamie Lee Curtis, a previous Oscar winner, announced her plans to advocate for the part of Dr. Kureha in “One Piece” Season 2. This decision came about due to fans on social media passionately expressing their preference for Curtis to bring the beloved character to life.

Approximately a year after Curtis’ Instagram announcement, it has been made public that she is no longer set to play the role because of scheduling issues with various upcoming projects. Currently, Curtis has several films in the works for her: the live-action Borderlands adaptation, a follow-up to Freaky Friday, Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, and Paul Greengrass’ The Lost Bus.

Who will be playing Dr. Kureha in One Piece Season 2?

Using conversational English: Producer Becky Clements of Speaking with Deadline confirmed that Curtis expressed strong interest in portraying Kureha in One Piece Season 2. Unfortunately, the production team couldn’t align their schedules with Curtis’.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “I’m a huge fan of her show, but unfortunately she’s got a lot on her plate with numerous films and TV productions in the works. Consequently, our production schedules clash. She truly wanted to be a part of it, but her prior commitments took precedence, making things rather intricate for us.”

Despite fans’ anticipation for Curtis in the role of Kureha for “One Piece” Season 2, Clements reassures them that they’ve discovered a fantastic actor to bring Tony Tony Chopper’s mentor or mother figure to life. As of now, Netflix has kept the complete cast under wraps, including those portraying Chopper, Kureha, Princess Vivi, Bon Clay, Nico Robin, Crocodile, and many others.

One Piece, a popular manga series by Eiichiro Oda, is adapted for television. The small screen version is overseen by Steven Maeda (The X-Files) and Matt Owens (Agents of SHIELD), with the latter two being its showrunners in Season 2. The main cast includes Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. In Season 2, viewers can look forward to David Dastmalchian portraying Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, Werner Coetser as Dorry, Brendan Murray as Brogy, Clive Russell as Crocus, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, and Ty Keogh as Dalton.
