James Watkins Tapped by DC Studios to Direct ‘Clayface’

DC Studios has finally found a director to mold Clayface.

Following numerous months of exploration, director James Watkins has been selected for the task of directing the upcoming film inspired by the infamous Batman villain. This project boasts a screenplay penned by renowned horror master Mike Flanagan.

According to reports, James Gunn, one of the co-chiefs at DC, had a conclusive meeting with Watkins on Thursday, which seems to have secured him the job. Now, they’ll work out the details of the agreement.

1940 marked the debut of Clayface, a character renowned for his shape-shifting abilities. According to reports, the movie, classified as a horror genre, is estimated to cost around $40 million. It revolves around a struggling actor in Hollywood who discovers an injection that maintains his career’s relevance. However, he soon realizes that this substance enables him to alter not only his face but also his entire form, transforming into a living, malleable clay figure.

The film will start production towards the end of this year, aiming to demonstrate a wide variety of DC content, ranging from high-budget superhero stories like Superman on one extreme, to lower-budget projects focusing on less popular characters.
