This box office performance places the movie just behind “A Minecraft Movie” and “Lilo & Stitch,” and also brought in an extra $95 million USD from 78 international markets. The production of Superman cost Warner Bros. and DC Studios approximately $225 million USD, with an additional $100 million USD spent on promotion.

David A. Gross from FranchiseRe commented that this opening is exceptionally strong within domestic markets. He noted that if there are any weaknesses, they lie outside the U.S. ‘Superman’, as a character, has traditionally been associated with America. However, in certain regions of the world, America’s current popularity isn’t at its peak.
