As a die-hard DC fan with years of comic book history etched into my memory, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and curiosity upon hearing the latest updates from James Gunn regarding Peacemaker Season 2 and the Justice League DCU rumors.

James Gunn recently debunked a circulating rumor about the Justice League in the DCU, and provided updates to eager fans regarding the progress of Peacemaker’s upcoming Season 2.

What did James Gunn say about the Justice League DCU rumor?

Recently, on theThreads platform, I was asked about the potential development of a Justice League: The New Frontier movie. Though I admire the captivating “alternate history” portrayed in The New Frontier, I must clarify that as of now, no such project is underway.

Gunn clarified that the statement wasn’t true at all. However, he expressed his fondness for the New Frontier series and how its captivating alternate history significantly impacted DC Studios.

Titled “The New Frontier,” this six-part comic book series was initially released by DC Comics in the year 2004. It’s set in the ’50s and weaves a tale where classic Golden Age superheroes like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman cross paths with Silver Age heroes such as The Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter.

Peacemaker Season 2 not done yet

In the latest development regarding Threads, Gunn has casually confirmed that filming for Peacemaker Season 2 is ongoing. He playfully announced this news using a humorous clip from Family Guy, and added that the final episode of Creature Commandos has now been completed.

In the upcoming DCU, Peacemaker Season 2 will feature John Cena returning as Christopher Smith. Danielle Brooks will portray Leota Adebayo, Freddie Stroma will take on Adrian Chase/Vigilante, Jennifer Holland will continue her role as Emilia Harcourt, and Steve Agee will be back as John Economos.

In addition, Frank Grillo takes on the character of Rick Flag Sr. for Season 2 of Peacemaker; however, his first appearance will be as the voice of the animated version of the character in Creature Commandos, set to debut in December. Furthermore, Sol Rodríguez has been selected to play Sasha Bordeaux in the upcoming season of Peacemaker, while The Office’s David Denman joins the cast in an unspecified role.
