As a long-time fan of James Gunn’s work and a connoisseur of storytelling, I can wholeheartedly appreciate his approach to releasing Creature Commandos episodically. Having followed the trajectory of many shows, both good and bad, it’s evident that this strategy allows for a more organic growth in popularity. The weekly release schedule fosters discussions and anticipation among fans, creating an engaged audience that eagerly awaits each new installment.
Overjoyed by the announcement of a new season for the series Creature Commandos, James Gunn shared his thoughts on social media regarding the reason behind its episode-by-episode release instead of a full-season drop.
What did James Gunn say about Creature Commandos?
In response to a fan’s query under a post announcing the return of Creature Commandos for its second season, Gunn questioned why the show didn’t follow the practice of certain streaming services and release all episodes simultaneously.
Gunn stated that releasing the show episode by episode enables it to generate more conversation, and build organic popularity through casual discussions among people.
Gunn said, “Each episode offers a chance for [Creature Commandos] to be analyzed and improve over time.” The series has gained popularity week by week due to the positive conversations about it and has amassed an eager fanbase. Releasing all episodes at once might have had different results. I personally prefer releasing episodes weekly for our shows. For those who prefer binge-watching, they can wait until the end of the season.
