James Bond Update: Harry Potter, Spider-Man Producers Could Take Over 007 Movies

Two potential producers for the next installment of the James Bond franchise have been named.

Last month, it became known that Amazon secured the creative rights for the James Bond series, which were previously held by Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. However, they will continue to be joint owners of the franchise.

Which producers is Amazon looking at for the James Bond franchise?

As per a recent report from Puck, David Heyman and Amy Pascal are currently discussing the potential role of overseeing the upcoming Bond series for Amazon.

According to an article by Puck, there have been whispers in the British media about veteran producers being potential candidates since Amazon took over the Bond franchise from Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson. However, it’s currently being discussed that representatives for Heyman and Pascal are in negotiations. Amazon has chosen not to comment, but once the deal with Broccoli is finalized, an announcement may be made. This choice is favored by Amazon executives Mike Hopkins, Jen Salke, and Courtenay Valenti, so barring any unforeseen obstacles, we can expect an official announcement soon.

David Heyman has been involved as a producer in the entire Harry Potter series from Warner Bros., including the three Fantastic Beasts films. Furthermore, his production credits extend to numerous other movies like I Am Legend (2007), Gravity (2013), Paddington (2014), its sequel Paddington 2 (2017), Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), and many more.

In the meantime, Pascal has played a significant role in the Spider-Man universe, as she’s responsible for creating all the standalone Marvel Cinematic Universe films featuring Tom Holland as Spider-Man, as well as the Spider-Verse series by Sony and the Venom movie series. Additionally, she contributed to several James Bond movies starring Daniel Craig: Casino Royale in 2006, Quantum of Solace in 2008, and Skyfall in 2012.

In addition, Puck’s piece points out that Amazon intends to create a fresh movie for cinema release prior to any spin-offs or television adaptations. Consequently, their initial step would involve selecting screenwriters or a director, followed by choosing the next James Bond actor.
