Jailed Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa to be shifted to Bellary prison amid VIP treatment controversy

As a long-time follower of Kannada cinema and a firm believer in justice, I find myself deeply troubled by the recent developments surrounding Darshan Thoogudeepa, a beloved Sandalwood star. The allegations against him are grave and the evidence, including the leaked photos and videos showing VIP treatment inside the prison, are concerning to say the least.

After a photo of Sandalwood star Darshan Thoogudeepa apparently enjoying time with three others on the grounds of Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Karnataka became widely shared on social media, it has been decided that he, who is currently under investigation for his alleged involvement in Renukaswamy’s murder case, will be transferred to Bellary Jail.

Due to a dispute over special treatment for a VIP, the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate mandated that Darshan should be moved to another prison on Tuesday. Beyond Pawan, Raghavendra, and Nandish, the police are arranging to transport Jagdish to Shivamogga Jail and Dhanraj to Dharwad Jail, whereas others will be relocated to Mysore Jail.

Nevertheless, actress Pavitra Gowda, currently implicated in a murder investigation, will continue her stay in the Bangalore prison. In response, three dedicated task forces have been established to scrutinize three separate instances of alleged privileged treatment within the prison confines.

Lately, a photo and video surfaced on social media showing a jailed actor enjoying special treatment within the prison. The picture captures him leisurely smoking a cigarette with notorious criminal Nagaraj, also known as Wilson Garden Naga. It’s important to note that Wilson Garden Naga is serving his time in prison under the Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act, 2000, due to his involvement in the murder of Mahesh N from South Bengaluru.

A different, unspecified video recording that leaked features Thoogudeepa engaging in a friendly phone call from Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru. In this 25-second excerpt, Darshan’s face appears on the screen, smiling and waving at the other party. During their interaction, Darshan seems unfazed, giving an appearance of normalcy. The setting clearly indicates that the video was captured within a jail cell.

For those not familiar, Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa and his rumored partner Pavithra Gowda are currently in judicial custody following the murder of a 33-year-old woman named Renuka Swamy. It’s said that the actor allegedly killed the young woman after she made disrespectful and vulgar remarks towards Pavithra Gowda, his rumored actress partner.

It seems that Renuka Swamy, who appeared to be a devoted fan of the actor, went to see him at his invitation, but tragically ended up being brutally mistreated and eventually losing her life. Later on, Swamy’s body was discovered near the actor’s residence, resulting in both the actor and his suspected accomplice being taken into custody. As the investigation continues, it is expected that Darshan will soon face questioning related to bail at a court hearing.
