Jack Movie Review: Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s spy comedy is a redundant and tedious attempt, failing to entertain at every stage

On April 10, 2025, the movie featuring Jack and Siddhu Jonnalagadda premiered in cinemas. About a month later, it became available for streaming on Netflix.

In this instance, the spy action comedy is crafted both in terms of writing and direction by Bommarillu Bhaskar. The narrative unfolds around the character of Pablo Neruda, who goes by the alias Jack, as he pursues his dream of becoming an agent for the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), all with the aim of safeguarding India.

The Plot

Jack narrates the tale of Pablo Neruda, a man often scattered in life’s pursuits and fondly nicknamed “Jack-of-all.” Without a set objective, he ultimately discovers his aspiration to join the RAW as an agent. During this waiting period for his results, he endeavors to penetrate a terrorist group.

What happens during his mission, and whether he becomes an agent, forms the rest of the story.

The Good

Jack’s elements are limited and may not be particularly entertaining for most people. The film featuring Siddhu Jonnalagadda in a leading role is somewhat lackluster, but mainly due to the actor’s captivating screen presence. Unfortunately, this charm feels repetitive, as if he’s essentially reprising his character from DJ Tillu, now playing Pablo Neruda.

Though the script lacks consistency, the music manages to deliver several noteworthy instances, particularly through captivating dance numbers. Moreover, certain action sequences act as redeeming factors within a rather chaotic movie overall.

The Bad:

Jack strives to excel at many things but fails to become an expert in any particular field. Regrettably, his efforts fall short. The movie is overly diverse and painstakingly made, leaving viewers uncomfortable and uninterested.

From a literary standpoint, the movie seems to push viewers’ tolerance with its script. Despite the intriguing aspects in its premise hinted by the trailer, and the promise of amusement, the film leaves us pondering over its approval process.

The primary storyline is unbearably dull, and the movie unfortunately drags due to an artificial romance that didn’t require much focus. Leaving the narrative aside, the film’s technical elements also fall short, with only its background music standing out.

It’s quite obvious to viewers that the poor quality of special effects and mistakes in the dialogue due to hasty or insufficient production and editing processes are present.

The Performance

Previously stated, Siddhu Jonnalagadda briefly amuses us with his charisma. Yet, his persona appears to be similar to DJ Tillu, and it seems that this repetition has reached its limit.

Alternatively, while Vaishnavi Chaitanya and Prakash Raj, as co-leads, made an effort, they were unable to prevent the movie from faltering. However, Prakash Raj’s sporadic appearances did offer some comfort.

The Verdict

The movie “Jack” isn’t particularly funny as a spy comedy, and it struggles to make a lasting impression even with its innovative idea. If you’re a fan of films similar to those starring Siddhu, you might find this enjoyable.
