Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez Named New Creative Directors at LOEWE

After much anticipation, designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have officially been appointed as the new creative directors at LOEWE, effective from April 7. Previously known for their work on the New York-based Prabal Gurung label, they’ve finally confirmed the long-running speculation with this recent announcement.

A week ago, news broke that after 11 years, Humberto Leon (Anderson) was leaving his position as artistic director for a Spanish luxury brand under LVMH. Earlier this year, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, founders of Proenza Schouler, stepped down from their creative director roles. Despite their departure, they are expected to retain positions on the board and remain minority shareholders. This latest change in the fashion world adds fuel to speculation that Leon may be moving to Dior, taking up the role of the next creative director.

In an interview with WWD, Loewe expressed that designers McCollough and Hernandez would take on the full creative leadership for all Loewe collections, encompassing women’s wear, men’s wear, leather goods, and accessories. Pascale Lepoivre, Loewe’s CEO, explained their choice of selecting McCollough and Hernandez, citing their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit as key factors. Their curiosity transcends fashion and reaches into various cultural realms, as well as diverse markets and customer bases we engage with. They are welcoming, dynamic individuals who align perfectly with our company culture – intense yet playful, and never taking themselves too seriously. Lepoivre further stated that their vision and creativity resonate beautifully with the identity of the brand, and she looks forward to witnessing them shape its future. Upon joining Loewe, they will spend some time in Madrid, touring the atelier, meeting artisans, and exploring the archives.

McCollough and Hernandez expressed their excitement about becoming part of the LOEWE family, as they find the company’s principles and objectives closely mirror their own. They are eager to collaborate with its exceptional teams and artisans, whose skills – under the visionary leadership of Jonathan Anderson – have transformed LOEWE into a significant cultural influence. They offer their heartfelt appreciation to Bernard Arnault, Delphine Arnault, Sidney Toledano, and Pascale Lepoivre for giving them the opportunity to contribute to the next chapter of this remarkable brand.
