What did J.K. Rowling post about Harry Potter stars?
It seems that J.K. Rowling expressed some criticism towards actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint on social media.
In response to the question about an actor or actress who spoils a movie for her, she playfully hinted at her answer, saying “Three guesses. Sorry, but that was irresistible,” followed by several laughing emojis. This could be interpreted as she’s alluding to three actors with whom she has had public disagreements regarding trans rights.

J.K. Rowling’s disagreement with the actors started in 2020 following her publication of an essay that labeled transgender identity as “misogynistic and regressive.” This sparked a reaction from Radcliffe who stated, “Trans women are women. Any statement contradicting this fact disregards the identity and respect due to transgender individuals.
Watson expressed, “Trans individuals are who they identify as, and they should be allowed to live freely without continuous scrutiny.” After the publication of the Cass Review in 2024, suggesting modifications to gender identity services in the UK, Rowling expressed her inability to forgive Radcliffe and Watson, stating, “Famous figures who associated with a movement aiming to weaken women’s established rights… can reserve their apologies for those traumatized detransitioners and women who depend on single-sex spaces.
Later on, Radcliffe admitted he hadn’t had any contact with Rowling for quite some time. He expressed that his life might not have taken its current course without her, but that doesn’t mean he should be bound to her beliefs forever. Previously, Watson hinted at the conflict during the 2022 BAFTAs by saying, “I’m here for all the witches!” – a statement many took as a subtle jab at Rowling.
