As a devoted horror fan with a deep appreciation for the genre and its ability to send chills down my spine, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming Netflix release of “Tarot.” The supernatural horror flick, which has been shrouded in anticipation since its successful run in theaters earlier this year, is finally coming to our screens on August 1, 2024.
Exciting news for horror enthusiasts! The lesser-known supernatural horror film “Tarot” will soon be accessible on Netflix. Mark your calendars as this hidden gem is set to arrive on the streaming service on August 1, 2024.
Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg, both newcomers to feature film directing with credits like “Extinction” and “Moonfall” (Spenser) and “The Expendables 4” under their belts, helmed the production of “Tarot.” Debuted by Sony Pictures Releasing in May, this film faced predominantly unfavorable critiques from critics. Yet, it defied the negative reviews and proved to be a commercial success, raking in approximately $48 million worldwide while only requiring an investment of $8 million.
According to Nicholas Adams’ 1992 novel “Horrorscope,” the story centers around a tight-knit group of college friends who suffer grim fates after using a malevolent tarot card deck. As each friend’s fortune is revealed, they meet a grisly end. The surviving members are now in a desperate race to decipher the mystery behind these cards before becoming the next victim.
Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Avantika Vandanapu, Wolfgang Novogratz, Humberly González, Larsen Thompson, Jacob Batalon, and Olwen Fouéré appear in this horror movie.

I was looking forward to watching “Tarot” on Netflix, assuming it would be added eventually due to Netflix’s deal with Sony. I had anticipated seeing it sometime between September and November 2024 based on past release patterns of Sony films on the streaming platform. To my surprise and delight, it seems Netflix managed to secure the horror flick earlier than expected.
As a seasoned parent and frequent moviegoer, I’ve seen my fair share of films with varying maturity ratings. Based on the PG-13 rating for “Tarot,” I would advise against letting children under 13 watch it. The reason being, this movie contains elements that may not be suitable for young audiences. These include horror violence, terror scenes, bloody images, strong language, and drug content.
Starting August 1, midnight Pacific Time/3 a.m. Eastern Time, Tarot will be streaming on Netflix. Are you planning to watch this spooky movie?
