It: Welcome to Derry to Kill Some Kids’ Characters in Season 1

Before the debut of the upcoming “It: Welcome to Derry” series, the show’s casting director has hinted at potential outcomes for some of the main child characters in Season 1. This series acts as a prequel to the It franchise directed by Andy Muschietti and focuses on a new group of children, referred to as “losers” in the original movie, as they fight against Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise. The show will also delve into the origin story of Pennywise, an aspect that was merely suggested in It Chapter Two. Although it is expected that Pennywise will reappear in It: Welcome to Derry Season 2, recent reports indicate that multiple characters from the primary group of kids may not survive past this season.

All of It: Welcome to Derry’s kids won’t make it to Season 2

As per Rich Delia, the casting director, not every character labeled as a “loser” in It: Welcome to Derry Season 1 is guaranteed to survive and appear in Season 2.

During an interview with The Direct’s Russ Milheim, Delia, who had previously worked on the It films, discussed the casting process for ‘Welcome to Derry’. She expressed her gratitude for working with Andy and Barbara Muschietti for a third time. Delia also mentioned that it was a difficult task to find new child actors for ‘It: Welcome to Derry’, having successfully cast children in 2017’s It movie.

Delia expressed that during the casting process, she aimed to discover as many potential talents as possible, looking for unique, lovable children who would capture the audience’s hearts. Naturally, some of these talented individuals may not survive in the storyline.

Although a remark was made, Delia chose not to reveal the children who would miss out on the second season of the show. As of now, there’s no confirmed premiere date for the HBO prequel series.
