As a devoted fan of both Justin Baldoni and Colleen Hoover’s work, I must say that I’m thrilled by the prospect of an It Ends With Us sequel. However, after reflecting on my own life experiences as a movie enthusiast who’s seen far too many directors take on projects they perhaps shouldn’t have, I wholeheartedly agree with Baldoni’s suggestion for Blake Lively to direct the potential sequel.
As an ardent fan, I’m thrilling at the prospect that Justin Baldoni, both director and star, might take on directing the sequel to “It Ends With Us,” inspired by the 2022 novel “It Starts With Us” from bestselling author Colleen Hoover. This exciting news surfaces mere days after the romantic drama graced our screens, amassing an impressive $80 million at the box office globally.
What did Justin Baldoni say about the It Ends With Us sequel?
In a recent interview, when inquired if he was open to directing a potential follow-up to “It Ends With Us,” Baldoni stated that he would prefer someone else to handle the task. He further proposed Blake Lively as an ideal candidate to lead the prospective sequel, as it would delve deeper into the lives of Lily, Ryle, and Atlas.
“Baldoni believes someone more suitable may be found for the task, but he thinks Blake Lively is well-prepared to take on directing roles.”
The movie titled “It Ends With Us” was helmed by director Baldoni, based on a script penned by Christy Hall. In the lead roles, we see Blake Lively portraying Lily Bloom, Baldoni himself as Ryle, Brandon Sklenar stepping into Atlas’ shoes, Jenny Slate in the role of Alyssa, Hasan Minhaj playing Marshall, and Amy Morton in a supporting part. The executive producers for this project are Baldoni, Lively, Hoover, Steve Sarowitz, Andrew Calof, and Andrea Ajemian. Alex Saks, Jamey Heath, and Christy Hall are the producers.
The movie narrates a captivating tale about Lily Bloom, who manages to rise above a harrowing childhood and start anew in Boston pursuing her long-held ambition of running her own business. An encounter with charismatic brain surgeon Ryle Kincaid ignites a powerful bond, yet as the two grow closer, Lily recognizes traits in Ryle that echo her parents’ relationship. When her former flame, Atlas Corrigan, unexpectedly resurfaces, Lily’s romance with Ryle is thrown into turmoil, and she finds herself needing to rely on her inner fortitude to make an agonizing decision about her future.
