In Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, there are no simple decisions to make. This role-playing game, reminiscent of Skyrim, immerses you in a world based on Arthurian legends where tough moral dilemmas abound throughout the land of Avalon. Along your adventure, you’ll encounter numerous Non-Player Characters who provide hidden quests and incentives if you choose to lend them aid during your interaction with them.
In this game, Vidar is one of the characters you’ll encounter. You’ll stumble upon him imprisoned in a hidden bandit camp as you explore the initial region, Horns of the South. Freeing him initiates a series of events that eventually require you to make a choice: either support him or hand him over to a mysterious group. In this guide, we will discuss the consequences of your decision to rescue Vidar and the “Spread Your Wings” quest in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, outlining both possible outcomes.
Warning: Plot details for the side mission “Unfold Your Destiny” in the game Stained Grail: The Downfall of Avalon. Proceed at your own risk.
How to Find Vidar in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Initially, our objective involves locating and freeing Vidar from a hidden bandit lair. This camp doesn’t show up on the map, making it tricky to discover unless you come across it by chance. You’ll find this camp north of the Ruined Broch fast travel point, close to where a road splits. Upon arrival, deal with the bandits and then locate Vidar, who is imprisoned in a cage. The key to free him is resting on a crate near one of their tents.
After gaining your freedom, connect with Vidar and arrange a rendezvous in Roscree. Doing so will initiate the “Spread Your Wings” mission and add Roscree to your map as a location.
Should You Save Vidar in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon?
Upon reaching Roscree, Vidar will be there, right in the heart of the village. Approach him to start a chat. However, your discussion won’t last long as a group known as the Children of Morrigan will interrupt you shortly.
It’s evident that Vidar and the offspring of Morrigan share a complex past, and you’ll uncover some of it in the ensuing dialogue. Self, their leader, will propose that Vidar joins them amicably without resistance, but predictably, Vidar is reluctant to comply.
At some stage, Self will disclose certain actions taken by Vidar that led to his arrest. Rather than aligning with Vidar, continue the discussion. Over time, you will find yourself presented with two choices:
- I don’t believe the stories you’re telling. I’m with Vidar.
- If he won’t be killed… All right. I’d like to know more.
Choosing to Save Vidar
Should you opt for, “I’m not buying your tales. I stand with Vidar,” you’re effectively siding against the Followers of Morrigan. The guild will view you as a threat and retaliate, becoming hostile and attacking you. To overcome this challenge, you’ll need Vidar’s aid.
After they’ve been subdued, converse with Vidar to initiate a series of tasks aimed at tracking and apprehending followers and prospective members of the Children of Morrigan. This journey will ultimately lead you to Cuachant, culminating in exclusive rewards tailored for this specific quest.
Choosing to Turn Vidar In

If you agree for the Children of Morrigan to keep Vidar, by saying something like, “If he won’t be harmed… I’m interested. Tell me more.”, you’ll gain favor with the guild. You’ll then become a Hatchling and can gradually move up in the ranks. This will also lead to a new set of quests that will take you to Cuachant, offering you exclusive items as rewards.
From here on out, I could opt to decline assisting Vidal and forego joining the Children of Morrigan. If that’s my choice, it means no further quests will be offered to me.
Should You Save Vidar or Hand Him Over to the Children of Morrigan?

Each option results in vastly distinct storylines and dilemmas, with their individual shades of moral complexity. While rescuing Vidar might appear virtuous initially, his readiness to take extreme measures, even betraying his own tribe, stirs questions about his genuine motives.
Contrastingly, the offspring of Morrigan appear somewhat less opaque. They navigate within an ethical limbo, striving to preserve equilibrium and security in Avalon. Despite operating covertly, their primary objective revolves around upholding order and ensuring safety.
Ultimately, it’s all about crafting your narrative as you see fit in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. Each option presents its unique repercussions that will unravel across your gaming journey, shaping the storyline and the destiny of Avalon.
