Is Ryan Gosling Joining Shawn Levy’s Star Wars Project?

Ryan Gosling may be headed to the great galaxy far, far away.

The three-time Academy Award nominee is currently discussing terms for a leading role in the upcoming “Star Wars” movie, which is set to be helmed by director Shawn Levy, known for his work on “Deadpool” and “Wolverine.

As a follower of all things Star Wars, I can attest that obtaining information about any new project is more challenging than unearthing blueprints for an orbital planet destroyer – this latest venture is no exception. Since 2022, Levy has been crafting his unique take on the Star Wars universe, and Jonathan Tropper, who partnered with Levy in films like “This Is Where I Leave You” and “The Adam Project”, has spent over a year perfecting the script. Remarkably, Levy is not only directing this feature but also producing it through his 21 Laps banner, joining Star Wars overseers Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasfilm in bringing this project to life.

According to reports, the Gosling development turned out to be an unexpected last-minute change in Levy’s film production timeline. Originally, the filmmaker had planned to direct a boy band movie at Paramount, which would have brought him together with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman again. However, Gosling’s involvement and enthusiasm for the project propelled the Star Wars project into high gear instead.
