Is Choi Hyun-Wook’s Black Salt Dragon K-Drama Based on a Webtoon?

As a hardcore K-drama fan with years of experience under my belt, I’m beyond excited about Choi Hyun-Wook’s new project, “Black Salt Dragon.” The fact that it’s based on a popular webtoon of the same name just adds an extra layer of intrigue.

The forthcoming K-drama “Black Salt Dragon” by Choi Hyun-Wook is adapted from a popular webtoon with the same title. A recent announcement revealed that Hyun-Wook from Twinkling Watermelon and Moon Ga-Young from True Beauty will be part of the star-studded cast.

In an upcoming love story film, Hyun-Wook, portrayed by Hyun-Wook, takes on the role of Ban Joo-Yeon, a wealthy heir. Sixteen years prior, Joo-Yeon crossed paths with Baek Su-Jeong (Ga-Young), not in real life but as online gaming characters. A profound connection developed between them during their game sessions. Regrettably, Joo-Yeon was left shattered when Su-Jeong declined his proposal many years ago.

In the passage of time, their paths cross again: he is now their superior at work, and she is his subordinate. Will Joo-Yeon have an opportunity to rekindle her past love? The anticipated drama is set to debut on tvN in 2025.

In the year 2004, Baek Su-jeong (Sandalgi), a senior high school student, harbors a secret crush for a black flame dragon she encounters in a game. Following her college entrance exam, she eagerly anticipates their long-awaited meeting. However, the real black flame dragon turns out to be an unexpected and stark contrast from Baek Su-jeong’s imaginings.

Additionally, the debut of the Black Salt Dragon webtoon’s first episode was on September 20, 2019. The last episode was published on February 1, 2021, followed by two additional chapters on February 8, 2021. According to Naver’s rating, this captivating work scores a perfect 9.9. It is masterfully crafted by Hyejin Yang, who both writes and illustrates it.

I’m thrilled to share that a new K-drama I’m looking forward to is coming up soon. This captivating production, led by director Lee Soo-Hyun, boasts an impressive cast including Moon Ga-Young, Choi Hyun-Wook, Im Se-Mi, and Kwak Si-Yang. In this series, Se-Mi and Si-Yang will portray the intriguing second couple. Set to air on tvN next year, I can hardly wait to witness their stories unfold!

Stay tuned for more updates about the Black Salt Dragon K-drama.
