It appears that the past year was exceptionally successful for the well-known Vtuber Ironmouse. Not only did she surpass various subscriber records on Twitch once more, but she also generously donated a substantial amount of money to a charity close to her heart, specifically The Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF). She successfully raised over half a million dollars for this cause.
Ironmouse, who has Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID), finds charities like IDF particularly meaningful due to her condition. She started streaming as her illness keeps her confined to her room most of the day. Initially, her financial matters and donations were managed by her talent agency, VShojo. However, Ironmouse recently revealed in a video that over $500,000 donated almost a year ago has yet to be transferred to the charity.
In addition, Ironmouse expressed that she’s departing from the agency due to certain reasons, one of which involves unpaid funds owed by VShojo. Although she’s eager to share further information, she’s been instructed to hold off until legal matters are resolved.
VShojo Handling The Finances
Given the circumstances, one could ponder why Ironmouse entrusted her Twitch finances and subscriptions to VShojo instead of managing them herself. After all, it’s quite normal for talent agencies like VShojo to handle the financial matters of VTubers.
For Ironmouse, initially, this arrangement suited her well as it allowed her to maintain privacy and keep her personal information secure, which is very important to her. However, as time went on, she grew eager to take a more active role in managing her own finances. This led her to withdraw funds from the company and discover the money that both she and the charity were owed.
VShojo And The Industry Of Bad Agencies
It’s not surprising to learn that some VTuber agencies have a less-than-stellar reputation within the industry. Frankly, I wish I could express my surprise about the news concerning VShojo. Regardless of whether it’s due to intentional wrongdoing or simple inefficiency, these agencies have tarnished their names over time. The alleged poor practices by VShojo might be the reason why some prominent VTubers decided to part ways with the agency in the past.
It’s worth considering if the recent departures of prominent VTubers Geega and Zentreya from their agency, just weeks before some controversial allegations surfaced, could be indicative of deeper issues at VShojo, similar to the Ironmouse incident.
Ironmouse Going Indie
Due to VShojo being a globally popular VTuber agency, the recent departures, including Ironmouse, could significantly affect the company. Conversely, these departing Vtubers will now have greater creative control over their content, as they can operate independently without an agency closely monitoring their work.
Currently, Ironmouse has ventured out as an autonomous Vtuber, which brings about some uncertainty regarding the future. However, this transition is tempered by the reassuring presence of well-known figures such as bbno$ and Shylili, who have expressed their support for Ironmouse. Additionally, being free from financial exploitation offers a glimmer of hope. At this time, VShojo has not released an official statement about the situation.
To my community I love you all dearly and thank you.
