Dominique Thorne, the star of Ironheart, recently shared her experiences when she found out that the upcoming Disney+ series would unveil one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s highly-anticipated villains.
What did Dominique Thorne say about Ironheart’s surprise character?
In the last installment of Ironheart, there’s an unexpected twist: Sacha Baron Cohen, known for portraying a secretive character who gave Anthony Ramos’ Parker Robbins his hood, is actually revealed to be Mephisto, a notorious and sinister character from Marvel Comics.
In the series, Riri Williams at first believes Baron Cohen is actually the cosmic entity Dormammu. However, he unveils his true identity as Mephisto, a shocking revelation for viewers. Thorne, who played the character, claimed she found out about this surprise plot twist only near the end of filming the show.
Thorne revealed to Variety that he found out about his character during our filming. So when they finally provided me with the correct name on the script, it was like ‘Wow, the Reddit guy! The one from all the whispers. He’s in this series? Alright, you guys are really putting this together!’
Thorne continued by expressing her gratitude for Marvel choosing to formally present the character in her series, viewing it as a kind of honor. She also mentioned that she thinks this decision is a strategic one.
Thorne notes that genuine Marvel enthusiasts understand the studio’s penchant for strategic planning. Hence, it’s exciting to see them introduce this character alongside Riri Williams and Parker Robbins, as these introductions are thoughtfully placed within the broader narrative and the unexpected turns this phase will bring.
