Ahead of the initial airing of Ironheart’s first season, Dominique Thorne, who plays the lead character, shared some insights about a potential Season 2. You might recognize Thorne as Riri Williams, her debut role being in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (released in 2022). The storyline of the initial season unfolds following the events depicted in that movie.
Dominique Thorne on what Ironheart Season 2’s story could be
During a recent chat with The Direct, actress Dominique Thorne discussed potential storylines for Ironheart Season 2, although Marvel Studios has not yet officially confirmed a second season. When asked about any discussions regarding the next season at Marvel, Thorne said, “Not yet.” If there is a Season 2, Thorne expressed her desire to explore “various other possibilities” that Riri experienced in the first season further.
She remarked, ‘To be honest, revealing that would ruin everything… I’m eager for her to delve into all the alternative paths hinted at during Season 1.’
Thorne hinted that the first season would significantly broaden Riri’s perspective of the world, and this newfound awareness would increase the possibilities available to her later on. Essentially, he suggested that Riri is discovering that the world is much larger than she previously imagined, even in her hometown, and there are many more mysteries and events happening than she had ever cared to explore or comprehend. This was Thorne’s explanation.
In simpler terms, the actress playing Judas and the Black Messiah anticipates that no matter what decision Riri makes, she will fully “dedicate” herself to it.
Chinaka Hodge developed the Marvel Studios series called Ironheart. Joining her in the cast are Anthony Ramos, who plays Parker Robbins / The Hood, and Lyric Ross as Natalie Washington. You can catch the first season of Ironheart on Disney+ starting June 24, 2025.
